Les Papillons de Victor
'Les Papillons de Victor' is a full-coloured picture book written by a French writer, Virginie Kasse, who now lives in Paris. This 36-page book was a collaborative project with all illustrations made by Melissa Sunjaya. 'Les Papillons de Victor' is available in French, English, and Indonesian.
Melissa carried Virginie's original manuscript for "Les Papillons de Victor" in between the pages of her Moleskine notebook. The story's main character, Victor, accompanied her wherever she went. Melissa made the original pen & ink sketches for this project while at a cafe in Bali, in her art studio in Jakarta, at her favourite restaurant, on an aeroplane to Frankfurt, in an airport lounge, and at several unique places during her travels last spring through the old cities of Vevey, Montreux, Antibes, Nice, Monaco, and Menton.
Virginie's words and Melissa's sketches were woven into a simple story about Victor – a child who is always smiling and continuously giving unconditional love to everyone he meets.
Due to our hand-made serigraphy process, every printing on each product is unique and varied from one to another. It is impossible to choose the printing of each product to be exactly the same on the showcased photos on our site or social media. These photos are for visual references of the products’ shapes only. The colours and alignments will never be the same from one print to another due to this manual labour.
