PRINCIPIA TOTE is an extra tall summer tote with an extra-tall zipped pouch. Its pair of shoulder straps are deliberately in 2 contrasting colours: red rumour and smokey plum. It took more than 150 hours of hand labour to create this collector’s edition, with an exclusive publishing run of only 12 pieces per artwork. The herringbone-textured fabric was woven in especially for this project, then stitched and adorned with golden thread. Every piece is signed and numbered.
This 2014 Collector’s Edition series is a tailor-made silk-screened collection of Tulisan produced in a limited number of 12. Melissa Sunjaya designed this as part of Tulisan’s annual master project. A significant amount of research and exploration studies have been dedicated to these master projects to create a unique play of symbolism between the artwork and the story behind it.
Melissa started this project in December 2013. She collaborated with Swiss-Canadian Artist Sébastien Théraulaz on all of the original illustrations and the concept for the 'Anima' story. Simultaneously, Melissa developed the design of the tote with two very close friends and brilliant designers, Weina Ding and Michał Górzyński. Weina is a contemporary visual artist, based in Spain. Michal is a product designer from Poland who now lives in Jakarta.
The name was inspired by Sir Isaac Newton’s PRINCIPIA, one of the most notable works in science. It relays the laws of motion and the foundation of classical mechanics.

Due to our hand-made serigraphy process, every printing on each product is unique and varied from one to another. It is impossible to choose the printing of each product to be exactly the same on the showcased photos on our site or social media. These photos are for visual references of the products’ shapes only. The colours and alignments will never be the same from one print to another due to this manual labour.
