Islamic Diversity in Indonesia

Join us at The Australian National University for a special exhibition vignette from Tulisan’s 1830 Collection, following its Jakarta debut.

The 1830 project aims to regenerate historical archives, dedicating 20% of sales to translating the UNESCO Memory of the World manuscript, Babad Diponegoro (comprising 43 cantos). Led by Melissa Sunjaya, George Quinn, and Peter Carey, this translation project presents the epic text in English paired with a contemporary visual language.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The 43rd annual Indonesia Update examines the relationship between Islam and diversity in modern Indonesia through four main lenses: Embracing Differences, Insisting on Difference, Institutions, and Mediating Difference. The event convenes leading scholars and policymakers to explore how pluralism is negotiated across society, civil institutions, and digital culture.
