Lelono, Surat No. 03: Etude5

I was inspired by a group of modernists who founded Bauhaus, notable as the first design institution in Weimar. Almost all of these visionaries took some sort of profound journey, in which they audaciously created their own multidimensional masterpieces. I read several essays written by Wassily Kandinsky, László Moholy-Nagy, Paul Klee, Walter Gropius, and composer Arnold Schoenberg.

Their writings recorded several public protests upon their work, some of which impeded the rise of their careers. For example, Schoenberg’s Atonal music was heavily opposed and marked as Degenerate Art by the Nazi regime. The power of the Third Reich and anti-Semitism at the time posted threats to many artists, forcing them to relocate to the United States.
