Melissa began designing the Opera Bag in January 2022 as a classic, lightweight work bag. Its hemispherical top shape is inspired by the ‘stupa’—a prominent feature of Java’s ancient Candi architecture. After exploring countless forms and cutting patterns, she eventually arrived at a proportion that beautifully complements her vibrant, day-to-day lifestyle. The Opera stands today as the pinnacle of her joyful bag-making journey.
She named it ‘Opera’ because the bag’s dual-sided exterior evokes a theatrical stage. The rounded top, finished with double zips, creates a graceful silhouette while offering a wide, practical opening for easy access. Inside, generous compartments and pockets are ideally suited for a mobile phone, A4 folders, or a laptop between eleven and sixteen inches. The bag also includes a loop designed to fit the separately sold Bien Strap, allowing it to be styled as a handbag, shoulder bag, or crossbody. Two additional loops on the short handles provide handy spots for attaching a keyring, bag charm, or extra pouch.

FEATURES:
- The interior of the bag uses our signature lining. This lining fabric is a highly durable water-repellent fabric, created using the most advanced technology from recycled PET bottles and post-consumer materials.
- Comes with a dustbag, made from pure cotton textile.
MATERIALS:
Hand-printed serigraphy textiles on unbleached (chlorine-free) cotton canvas, using eco-friendly water-based inks. For the handbags and accessories category, unless otherwise noted, each textile is protected with water-resistant Poly-Urethane coatings. Our hand-made production is certified by the Bluesign®️ system. This certification is a strict screening, designed to monitor the responsible use of resources, clean work processes, wastewater management, healthy air ventilation, and safety procedures for the workers as well as a safe final product for the consumer.
