Jago
‘Jago’ was sketched initially for the ‘Sound of Dawn’ Collection in 2011. However, in 2011 there were many technical limitations in the silk-screen atelier. Melissa could not print this sketch in the quality that she expected. So she designed a different character of ‘Jago’ and decided to keep this sketch for a later publication. After several improvements to the silk-screen atelier, Tulisan finally published this in 2020. Here is a fragment of the prose ‘Sound of Dawn’:
“Like a conductor who is about to lead a grand symphony, a shiny black cockerel raises itself on to a fence, summoning others to join his sunrise orchestra. The hummingbirds set an opening tune, the daisies dance the cha-cha, while the leaves and the morning breeze sing a soothing ballad.”
